The Far West Side has the three Kane facilities, Talley Road, Mechler's Place and Devon. On the southeast side, Bettis and Lone Star are close to Braunig and Calaveras lakes. Posted monthly rates we checked on operator websites start around $35-$100 for outdoor spaces at most lots. Covered spaces mostly run about $130-$225, with Covered Keeper's 35 ft stalls starting at $200. Enclosed units run about $120-$535, and a few oversized units cost more. Several lots were running half-off move-in specials, and many enclosed and covered sizes were waitlisted.

How to choose RV or boat storage
- Measure first. Use overall length including the hitch/tongue and any rear rack, and height including A/C units, antennas or a boat tower. Ask whether the listed space size is the usable length.
- Covered vs. enclosed vs. open. A canopy blocks sun and hail; an enclosed garage also blocks dust, wind and prying eyes. Decide based on how long the rig sits and what you'd otherwise spend on covers and repairs.
- Power. “Electric” usually means a low-amp outlet for a battery tender, not a full hookup. Ask about amperage, extra fees, and whether running a fridge or A/C is allowed.
- Access. Check gate hours against when you actually leave for trips. Early departures and late returns matter.
- Security. Look for perimeter fencing, coded entry and exit, cameras that record, lighting and an on-site manager. Ask what their insurance requires of you.
- Maneuvering. Pull-through spaces and wide paved aisles make big rigs and solo parking much easier.
- Extras. Dump station, water fill, wash bay, air and propane can save a stop on every trip.
- Contract terms. Ask about minimum terms, admin fees, deposits, required insurance, documents (registration/title) and how rate increases work.
- Waitlists. Popular covered sizes can sell out. Ask to be added to a waitlist and when spaces usually open up.
San Antonio-specific tips
- Expect waitlists for anything with a roof. When we checked, every size at Kane's Grosenbacher Rd lot was waitlisted, the Potranco Rd lot showed no units online, and most sizes at Lone Star (Calaveras Lake) were waitlisted. Engel's enclosed units and covered pull-through were waitlisted too. Ask to join a list early.
- Read the promo terms. San Antonio RV & Boat Storage was offering half off the first two months, and Lone Star's 50%-off special needs a 3-month minimum stay. Talley Road quotes 6-month or 1-year lease rates, adds $15 for month to month and wants first and last month up front.
- Check gate hours. Parkway, Blossom, Covered Keeper, Bettis, Kane, Lone Star, Whatever (Cibolo), Talley Road and Timshel list 24-hour access. RecNation Selma, Devon and Store It All Converse close overnight (6am-10pm or 6am-11pm), and RecNation Selma offers 24/7 access on request.
- Need a battery tender? Bettis, the Kane facilities and Lone Star list power and lights in their enclosed units. San Antonio RV & Boat Storage's covered spaces have a 20 amp battery-maintainer outlet, and Lookout in Live Oak has covered spots with an electrical hookup. Engel's 50 ft enclosed units have metered 50 amp service.
- Military discounts exist. Whatever Boat & RV Storage in Cibolo, about 12 minutes from Randolph AFB, gives 10% off with valid military or first responder ID.
- Store near the water you use. Bettis, Lone Star and Covered Keeper are on the south and southeast side toward Braunig and Calaveras. RecNation Canyon Lake is on FM 306 along the lake's north shore, and Talley Road and San Antonio RV & Boat Storage are on the west side toward Medina Lake. Parkway, San Antonio RV & Boat Storage and RecNation Canyon Lake have dump stations.

What's the difference between covered, enclosed and outdoor storage?
Outdoor (open) spaces are a paved or gravel parking spot. Covered spaces add a roof (canopy) but are open on the sides. Enclosed or indoor storage is a garage-style unit with walls and a door, sometimes temperature-controlled. Protection and price generally rise in that order.
Can I keep my RV plugged in?
Some facilities offer power at the space, usually low-amp outlets meant for battery tenders/trickle chargers, not full hookups. Use the “Electric” filter, then ask the facility what amperage is provided and whether there's an extra fee.
Do RV storage facilities have waitlists?
Popular sizes (especially long covered spaces) can sell out. Where an operator states limited availability or a waitlist, we note it in the listing. Otherwise call to ask whether there is a waitlist for your size.
